Our Story
Inspiration for Partnership for Proactive Health came from growing up in sports and experiencing the difference of Healthcare as a Team Sport. In sport, healthcare is focused on proactively optimizing health + performance with an interprofessional team of healthcare professionals centering on the 5 domains of proactive health. Imagine if Healthcare as a Team Sport was available to everyone, truly optimizing health + saving lives.
This journey dates back to the 1980’s when our founding board members, John Lombardo, Doug McKeag, Jim Puffer and Lee Rice organized a team to establish the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine. In 2020, the father-daughter team, John and Erin Lombardo, started looking for pathways to improve health outcomes. In 2021, these five individuals teamed up with a common goal to bring positive change through a proactive interprofessional team-based care model. In 2022, Partnership for Proactive Health, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit was founded and our program building has begun. In 2023, we expanded our board of directors to include all-stars, Joe Briggs, Archie Griffin and Katie Smith, who experienced Healthcare as a Team Sport as athletes and beyond.
We believe it’s time for everyone to have Healthcare as a Team Sport and are starting with population and maternal health!
