What is Joy?

7 Building Blocks of Joy

Plays4Joy is built on a proactive health foundation developed by an interprofessional team of healthcare professionals in collaboration with educators, athletes, families and kids. These seven Building Blocks of Joy are the pillars that guide our work—helping young people build confidence, connection + resilience through play.

Originally developed through our work in maternal health to help families understand how to support their well-being after a baby arrives, the Building Blocks have been adapted for Plays4Joy and fourth graders, bringing the same proactive approach to kids as they grow.

Plays4Joy was created to empower kids of all ages to discover joy, build confidence, connect with others + grow resilience through play. We’re calling on families, schools, teams and communities to get in the game to boost kids’ mental health.
